We were so thrilled to have worked with this gorgeous couple on their wedding day.
We hope that it is what they wanted and more.
We went all out with a colour explosion to say the least but in a tasteful, (bright) manner.
Sally + Ben we wish you both all the happiness in the world and
hope that your day was as magical as you had wished for.
Amini. x
1) Top 5 moments of the day?
1. Hanging out with my girls while getting hair and makeup done. We had music playing, lots of laughs and very relaxing morning
2. My dad walking me down the aisle and the proud look he had plastered on his face the whole day
3. Seeing the amazing work done by Amini and the florist
4. Celebrating the day with very special family and friends
5. Marrying Ben – best day of my life
Those flowers are truly amazing! So much colour!
2) Any hot tips?
Repeat over and over as needed – the only people I need to please is (insert partner name) and myself
Gather inspiration pics – so useful when trying to convey your vision.
Try not to sweat the small stuff.
Have fun planning – you only get to do this once (hopefully)
3) Do you have any advice for future Bride’s?
Have fun, be creative – make it your day and make it personal
Colour, colour, colour - LOVE!
4) Any disasters?
None – It was the smoothest day ever. And if anything did go wrong, I was not made aware of it thankfully!
5) What was your inspiration behind your theme?
Colour – I wanted the day to be bright and colourful without looking too tacky. I wanted a handmade, hand picked vibe to the day
and I really wanted to avoid a “venuey” feel – so no white tables clothes and chair covers.
We love the delightful illustrative menu’s and stationary that was showcased throughout the styling – just gorgeous!

This week we are shining the spotlight on Lillipollen florist! Maryrose Loff at Lillipollen never gets it wrong. If you want a passionate, kind, warm and welcoming florist, who’s going to listen to your every need with enthusiasm and understanding, then Lillipollen is the florist for your next event!
What defines or helps shape your work? I studied Fine Art so I guess the principles I learnt while studying very much define what I do. That being said,
I combine those principles, with my own style and vision as well as that of each individual client, then incorporate such beautiful elements
of nature – flowers, foliage, berries, all kinds of different natural textures to create something unique and special for each gorgeous Lillipollen client.
Tell us 5 things you love about weddings? Only 5 things? There is so much to LOVE about weddings….
1) My most favourite thing is to see the look on the brides face when she
sees her bouquet for the first time! That initial look is the biggest compliment my work can ever receive.
2) Being involved in the lead up to the Big Day and working with the beautiful brides (and grooms!)
to ensure their florals are a true indication of their personalities.. I’ve met some really gorgeous couples
3) Getting a sneak peak before anyone else does on the Big Day - whether this is seeing the bride in her dress just about to leave for the church, or seeing an amazing venue finished and waiting for the guests to arrive.
4) Selecting the flowers and materials I am going to use at the markets. I get such a buzz when I’ve picked up the beautiful blooms
and cannot wait to get them back to the studio and put my visions into reality! I still get amazed sometimes at how wonderful the finished product turns out.
5) The people I get to work with and meet along the way. I have been ‘in the industry’ for many years now, and have met some amazingly creative,
talented people, including photographers, hair & makeup artists, interior designers, fashion designers, caterers etc..
Favourite wedding trend of the moment? Wedding trend you’d love to see disappear forever?
My favourite trend of the moment is using all the ‘same’ flowers in my creations. Its understated, but so very elegant and classical. Something I wish would disappear forever? Pinning diamontes or beading to the blooms. To me, a flower does not need this kind of embellishment!! Their true beauty is in their natural state..
Is there an artist/designer/generally creative person in a totally different field who inspires you?
I absolutely adore everthing the girls at Sass and Bide create! As well as their gorgeous designs, I also really love the way their stores are presented and their whole ‘branding’.
If you weren’t a florist, what would you be? A resident artist somewhere!!
Favourite summer food?
Summertime to me means gorgeous stonefruits – I am crazy for lychees, mangoes, peaches, plums, cherries, papayas etc. There are so many delicious ways to use these fruits - au natural is my favourite though I do use them in salads or marinated as a lovely dessert etc. And of course, I am quite partial to a lovely, crisp white wine in the sun!!!
We love coming across fabulous wedding decorations that won’t cost you a fortune and when it comes to flowers, they can sometimes get pretty pricey.
Turns out if you aren’t finding the flowers you love for your event, as they may not be in season, then maybe a creative alternative is to buy paper ones!
Take a look at these amazing paper ranunculus boquets and cake flowers courtesy of Sunny and Stumpy etsy – we love etsy!!
How great would it be if this was your local bread shop, situated at 178 Faraday Street, Carlton VIC 3053. The concept is simple, a basket the size of a shop. A basket that was also a rack. A simple gesture.
We’ve taken a snippet from the article about the bakery so be sure to have a read and follow the link to read the full article – fantastic inspiration!
Bread is a simple product, of few ingredients, traditionally displayed and sold simply. The art of a baker such as D. Chirico is to perfect a simple process and do it like few others. The results are evident in their reputation. At the Carlton edition of Baker D. Chirico, this concept has inspired the interior, the simple purpose of which is to cool the bread fresh out of the oven, to display it naked of packaging and ready to be portioned and sold.
An undulation of CNC routed plywood forms wall and ceiling. Subtractions from the wall provide display areas for bread; the varying depths of the shelves and heights of the subtractions meticulously arranged to accommodate long baguettes, large round pagnotta, ficelle loaves and other creations. The variety and expanse of the wall allows the display to be re-arranged and altered according to mood or season.
Standing in firm counterpoint to the wave of the bread wall, the centre counter is conceived as a giant chopping board, intended to wear and patina gracefully with age and use. Scales, crumb trays, knife holders andPOS terminals each have a place on this working bench, all subsumed into the simple sales concept: chop loaf, wrap and sell.
How FABULOUS is this wedding!! We literally fell in love with the pomegranate theme as soon as we read the words pomegranate. The design and aesthetics of this gorgeous wedding comes from the creative minds at Carly Williams Weddings & Event and Primary Petals & The Vintage Table Co, they have done such a divine job on this rustic, outdoor wedding.
That vibrant, rich colour palette with the golden highlights somehow creates a wondrous luxurious feel event though the venue is set outdoors! Some inspiration to get you through the rest of your week!

We are so happy to share today’s Real Wedding post with you. We think it’s such an honour when couple’s come to us asking to help style their wedding. To be able to share and bring to life that couples wedding day is something that we love to do. Naomi and Brad were no exception, they were an absolute delight to work with. Naomi and Brad chose to go with a simple, elegant yet fun theme with a lilac, silver, grey and aubergine palette.
Naomi sent through her and Brad’s wedding video to which we had to share (of course). Click here to see the happy couple on their joyous day.
Top 5 moments of the day?
1. Waking up on your wedding day and enjoying breakfast with my family and my best friends before all craziness begins…..
2. The moment when the girls head off and it was just Dad and I – knowing that everyone is now waiting for me to arrive!
3. Making it down the aisle without crying!! The feeling when Dad gave me away to marry the man of my dreams…
4. Having so much fun with the bridal party in-between the church & reception. But also seeing everyone else celebrating and having fun.
5. Spending the last 30mins of our wedding day in the hotel room together – debriefing and both agreeing it was the perfect day!!
Any hot tips?
Brides – Take the week off before (if you can), spread out the tasks and write yourself lists! Book in for a massage and try to relax knowing that no matter what happens; it will be the most amazing day of your life and turn out just how you imagined. Let your bridal party help on the day so you don’t have to worry about things, you feel like a bit of a Diva, but it’s the one day you can be boss! Pay that bit extra to get a video of the day – it does go by fast, plus you get to see just how happy you both were! A lifelong memory and something to share with your kids one day. Grooms – She may look like she has it all under control and may not take you up on it, but offer to help as much as you can along the way. The thought will be appreciated.
Do you have any advice for future Bride’s?
Start planning early but enjoy your engagement – don’t be a bridezilla too early! Cosmo bride was the magazine I loved the most and there are lots of great online sites to buy quirky things or borrow ideas. My favours were from Etsy – the guys received a key ring bottle opener and the girls received a ‘wedding wish’ bracelet card. Guests loved these and are still using/wearing them!
Also, we were married in a Catholic Church and required to attend pre-marriage counselling day, but it is really nice to know your both on the same page in life. It reinstates your values, upbringing and understanding one another inside and out. Marriage is glamorised in the magazines and through celebrities these days, it really does make you understand what marriage is all about and the lifelong commitment to one another! Plus you can have a drink and a laugh afterwards
Gorgeous shot – the happy couple!
What a good looking Bridal Party!
What was your inspiration behind your theme?
We wanted something that was elegant yet fun and uncomplicated! I used a colour palate of lilac, silver, grey and aubergine for menus, invitations, table settings, and the bridal party.
Emporium Hotel is very eclectic and unique so I wanted something to compliment the ballroom.
Any disasters?
Not on the day, but in the lead up we did have our own personal situation to deal with… 6 months out from the wedding date, Brad suffered a head injury playing AFL and was in induced coma for 2 weeks. He had to undergo 3 months of rehab and learn to walk, talk, drive and recall things to get back to an everyday life again. There was a time when we really didn’t know how things would turn out! Thankfully he has made a remarkable recovery and lives to tell his story. This made us realise how precious life really is, and that all the small things in life that go wrong and we waste our time on, are nothing compared to how fast your life can be turned upside down! Whilst planning a wedding can bring you many disasters most are able to be fixed, just remember why you are getting married. In the end all I wanted was to have the chance to marry the man of my dreams and have that special day happen.
